Conoce Gran Canaria

By | 29 May, 2014 | 0 comments

As we have pointed out in several occasions, Gran Canaria is an island that offers all kinds of plans and possibilities.

Today we would like to talk about several interesting sites of the island; places that hold the essence of the Canarian culture and they are not the beaches. Now or then we will add pieces of information to this blog regarding the island’s treasures so as to give you ideas to make the most of your time here during your stay at Palm Oasis Maspalomas.

We will start by a plan which is enticing for many of our visitors: Jardín Botánico (Botanical Garden) and Casa de Vino (Wine House).

Jardín Botánico (Botanical Garden)

If you wish to discover the abundant botanical wealth of our region, we recommend you to walk around the botanical garden. The Viera y Clavijo botanical garden is the biggest of Spain and boasts more than 27 hectares to visit.

The initial idea was to create a place to show the world the island’s botanical wealth. Nowadays, this garden is a complex and modern centre with different sections to visit and learn a lot about the rich endemic flora of Gran Canaria. It holds endangered plant species and vegetation of different areas. The garden is, without question, a real paradise for nature and botany lovers.

Casa de Vino (Wine House)

If you are a gourmet and you also take an interest in culture, you cannot leave Gran Canaria without going to Santa Brígida, in the northern area of the island. The wine house is located in an enchanting spot in the mountains of the inland. It has been consolidated as the island’s wine museum and now combines Gran Canarian D.O. wine-tasting and the commercialisation of these wines. We recommend you stop here to relish exquisite food with perfect wine.
